Jasper Business Recovery Program: Supporting Local Businesses to Recover & Rebuild After the Wildfire

Community Futures West Yellowhead is proud to partner with PrairiesCan and launch the Jasper Business Recovery Program to support small and medium-sized businesses in their recovery following the Jasper Complex Wildfire. This initiative will provide non-repayable funding, alongside coaching and development services, to help eligible businesses recover and return to full operations.

About the Program

The Jasper Business Recovery Program provides non-repayable grants of $5,000 to sole proprietorships and $10,000 to eligible incorporated businesses that operated within Jasper National Park or Townsite prior to the wildfire. This funding is meant to help you cover expenses necessary for your business recovery, general business operations, relocating your business or closing your business if other solutions are not feasible. 

Funding Available

  • $10,000 for incorporated businesses with up to 50 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees 
    *1 full-time employee equals 1.0 FTE; 1 part-time or seasonal employee equals 0.5 FTE

  • $5,000 for sole proprietors in eligible industries, including tourism, construction, events, and weddings

Eligibility Requirements To qualify, businesses must meet the following criteria:

  • Physically located and operating in Jasper or Jasper National Park on July 22, 2024

  • Hold a 2024 business license from either Parks Canada or the Municipality of Jasper

  • Employ 50 or fewer *FTEs and generate less than $5 million in annual revenue 
    *1 full-time employee equals 1.0 FTE; 1 part-time or seasonal employee equals 0.5 FTE 

  • Demonstrate revenue loss as a result of the July 2024 Wildfires

Ineligible applicants include non-profits, charities, hotels, private home accommodations, major banks, and businesses with headquarters outside of Jasper.

 

Eligible Expenses This funding can be applied toward non-deferrable expenses directly related to business reopening and recovery, including:

  • Operating expenses like rent, wages and regular scheduled debt-payments for the business.

  • Business restart costs, including professional fees, new equipment or inventory, marketing and hiring new staff

  • Recovery planning and remediation fees

Note: Funding cannot be used for expenses covered by insurance, other relief programs, or personal items.

 

Application Process Apply by February 28, 2025. CFWY will respond within two weeks of receiving your application, with each request evaluated by our review committee.

CFWY reserves the right to request financial documents to verify eligibility. We encourage all affected businesses to apply, as every business’s needs are unique, and we’re committed to helping as many Jasper businesses as possible in their recovery efforts.
